The article will cover both circumstances of configuring the panels and content for both Item specific panels and Global Panels.

Note: For Enterprise Solutions, the inherited items panels must be configured in their respective source story. Inherited Items do not allow editing in any other story they appear in apart from the source story. The hierarchy of changes goes: Enterprise Panel (Inherited and Shared) settings, Item-specific Panels and then Global Panels

Configure Item-specific Panels

To configure panels for a specific item:

  1. Make sure the item is selected and click the Edit button in the right-hand toolbar
  2. Click the Panels tab in the Edit Item window
  3. Click Edit Panels to open the panel configuration options window

With the Edit Panels dialog is open, all the item’s panels can be configured and re-ordered as seen below:

The dialog displays all panels on the item and gives you the ability to:

Hide Title – This option will hide the title on the panel.

Order – By double-clicking on the value in the box, you can use decimals or integers to order the panels.

Background – This will set the background colour for the panel.

Border – This will set a border colour for the panel.

Visible – This will determine if the panel is visible when the item is open.

Once all the changes have been made, simply press Update Panels to save the changes.

Configuring Global Panels

Configuring Global panels is performed at the Story Setup level as shown below:

Note: In order to access most of the settings displayed above, the “Show advanced options” toggle must be activated as highlighted.

(*) = item-specific level settings (if changed from the defaults) will take precedence over the global panel settings for these options

Hide Title* – This option will hide the title on the panel.

Order* – By double-clicking on the value in the box, you can use decimals or integers to order the panels.

Background* – This will set the background colour for the panel.

Border* – This will set a border colour for the panel.

Inherits Down – This is an Enterprise specific function and must be completed at the Template level. This setting determines if a global panel is inherited down the Enterprise Structure or remains at the Template level.

Note: The “Inherits Down” option is only available from SharpCloud v9.1.0116 and onwards.

Once all the changes have been made, simply press Update Panels to save the changes.

Adding/Editing Panel Content at the Item level

Adding or editing content on panels at an item-specific level can be done in 2 ways:

  1. Using the “Edit Item” control.
  2. On the panel directly when the item is opened.

By using the pencil icon highlighted above, the panel will open in the “Edit” mode, so the content can be added or edited.

On the panel directly, there is a pencil icon in the top right corner as highlighted above which will allow you to make updates to the panel's content.

Adding/Editing Panel Content at the Global Level

Adding/Editing content at the global level must be performed in Story Setup dialog as shown below

Using the pencil icon (highlighted above), the content can be added or amended here. When adding content at the global level, that content will appear on all global panels that have not been modified at the item level.

For example, you can create a relationship panel and filter what relationships to show on that panel using the pencil icon, and that panel will be displayed on all items in the designated category/categories. If that panel is updated at the individual item level, the changes will take precedence over the global panel settings for that item’s panel only.

Note: If you have amended a global panel at the item level, and then reconfigure the panel at the global level, you will be presented with the following dialog box. “Yes” will overwrite any changes that were previously made at the Item level with your new changes at the global level. “No” means your global level changes will be applied only to items for which that particular panel was not previously updated at the item level.
