To speed up the editing process, a user can select multiple items and edit them all at once, changing attribute values, adding new panels and even creating multiple relationships at once in a very quick and seamless fashion.
Note: In Enterprise stories, dynamic, shared and inherited items are unable to have their attributes updated via multiselect editing. If you have an item that is not local to that story in your selection, it is not possible to edit inherited attributes using multi-select editing. It is always worth checking if all the items in your selection are local as indicated by the hover-over border colour.
Note: You are not able to view Calculated Values attributes when multiple items are selected.
There are 3 ways to select multiple items:
- Right-click on a single item and click “Select Item” from the right-click menu. This will activate selector mode and show check boxes in the corner of each on-screen item. Tick the boxes of the items you wish to include in your selection.
- You can also click, drag and highlight the group of items you wish to edit, provided they are in proximity to one another.
- Lastly, you can use Ctrl+Left Click to select items individually.
Regardless of which of the above methods you use, your items will appear as shown below once you begin selecting.
With the items selected, you can start editing.
Changing Attribute Values and Relationships
When editing properties of all the selected items, SharpCloud will inform you if the items you have selected have different values to one another as highlighted in the example below.
Note: If the items have different values to one another, this does not prevent you from changing that property to a singular value. It is just to inform you that you will be altering values for all items.
Changing any attribute values such as description or category will take effect across all selected items.
You can also add multiple relationships at once from the selected items to other items. This can be done by going to the relationship tab in the edit panel and selecting “Add multiple relationships”.
Simply click on the items you want your group of items to be related to, and once done, click in the designated area and the action will be complete.
Adding Panels and Resources
When adding new panels to multiple items, you will see a list of all panels that the selected items contain. If you add a new Rich Text Panel for example, you will see multiple Rich Text Panels getting added at once, with the item name on the left and the title of the panel on the right as shown below:
You can also add resources like a URL link to your selected items. You can do this by going to the “Resources and Documents tab” and clicking “Add Multiple Resources” as shown in the image below:
Note: You can always remove a resource from an individual item from the above screen just by clicking the red cross next to that resource. Be sure to double-check that it will be removed from the intended item.
